A "Roaming Channel" is intended specifically for users who need a private / channel on a temporary basis and will not be in one fixed location for more than six weeks.
A Roaming Licence is potentially suitable for: mobile-based teams such as tradies, security, entertainment & event coordinators working regularly across different venues, schools needing a channel for sporadic use at school fetes, annual camping excursions, and emergency use only.
The Roaming Channel can be used anywhere in Australia for up to 6 weeks, subject to the Radio Communications Act 1992.
Organisations that need to communicate for more than six weeks at a single location must apply for a fixed-site licence.
